MEANWHILE...
Bluebell rubs at her long ears, giving Julius an incredulous look. "Say again?"
The satyr straightens up from where he was peering under a couch. "I don't KNOW where he went! I thought he was fine. I gave him a book to read..."
"He is TWO! He cannot read!" Her voice not even holding any falsehood in her ire. "You were to watch the boy, not set him aside like a forgotten bunny after Easter's delight!"
The satyr's temper prickles as he straightens up too quickly and bonks his head on the bottom of a coffee table. "You're the - OOOF! You're the one who decided I should babysit! I had paperwork to attend to. How should I have known he would get bored and wander off?!"
"You should know because you should know! When our nest is full-" She starts, only to be interrupted.
"That's another thing! Who decided we were having kids? You never asked me! Don't I get a say in this? I never agreed to a pack of ankle-biters..."
Bluebell is taken aback without an answer. Julius continues, "Well? Did I? Well?"
And then Bluebell blurts out, "Well? WELL!" And races away. Julius watches her go, baffled, then turns, and continues his search of the inner rooms.
Bluebell runs herself ragged to the spring garden, where she anxiously checks that no missing toddlers have fallen into the fountain - or indeed, the vine-laced, moss covered and closed wishing well within an overgrown copse. Still covered and untouched, she finds.
Eventually the word that the boy has been found and taken home by his mother reaches both the pooka and the steward... individually, as they are not speaking to each other at the moment.
