Brego lets Willy do her thing, while Danica watches alongside Dame D'Lorean. Perhaps cowed by the presence of his rider, or awaiting those sweet promised C U B E S.

Willy works quickly, reaffixing the loose shoe. She double checks all the others, ensuring they are true, muttering as she works "....really oughta take all these off, clean and file, do a decent job but no forge, no spares, can't do it right and does anyone care?" she snorts. The muttering is almost a self-calming technique, allowing her to focus and do... really, a very nice job.

When he receives his hoof back, he gingerly sets it down, then leans his weight - finding that the shoe sits firmly and no longer slips alarmingly underfoot, he stomps it a few times for good measure, then starts snuffling along Willy's pockets and pouches.

Danica remarks, "Speak to Julius back at the manor, and he will acquire whatever tools you need to give all of the horses a going over."

"Guess it has the horse's approval"

Willy pushes the horse's nose away. "Mind yer manners, stud." She rolls up her gear, responding to Danica as she does so "Julius, right, my buddy from Cabo. Who the hell is Julius??"

"Steward of the hold, He's a Satyr " Dame Lavender says

"Indeed. Thank you, Dame."

Brego snorts and stamps, getting a bit agitated. Adelie whickers to him soothingly from her stall, but it has little effect.

"Miss Willy. I believe you had an arrangement with Brego. He is not a dumb animal, but understands you as well as any. Better than some, I would argue." The troll says, her tone mild.

"Well thank God you're here to remind me." she mutters.

She puts her gear down outside the stall and comes back, addressing the horse. "Look we don't know each other but I do like I say." she offers C U B E S on the flat of her hand.

Two!!

Suddenly all sweetness, Brego nickers in delight, tail swishing as he lips up the treat.

Danica's jaw moves a touch, but she doesn't say anything.... unlike Snowthorn, who gives a whinny of complaint! Cubes!! CUBES!!

Willy looks around at the complainer "Yeah? You stand steady for shoeing, you get a treat. Deal."

A chuckle from Dolph, who has been quietly continuing his cleaning in the background.

Meanwhile, Danica is stroking Brego's head and murmuring to him quietly. Something something, fine and brave lad. A bunch of softies, this group it seems.

"Snowthorn, show some dignity" Lavender smiles fondly though

"This is Snowthorn, he's a pro on the field, a true athlete. Loves the joust. But I guess no fae horses is perfect" She strokes the white stallion

"What gave it away?" dourly, leaning against the wall at a cross-tie point.

"The fact he's a pro? Oh so glad you ask. This idiot twit Fiona was riding him terribly, didn't know one end of a horse from another. Poor Snowthorn was struggling to make the twit idiot look good. The Baron looked like he wanted to have that Fiona flogged and I was right there with him. Fortunately we got Snowthorn, and he came with me and viola, a champion allowed a rider who knows what she is doing"

"Cool story."while her expression suggests there may yet be idiot twits in the area.

Lavender seems immune to surly nocker expressions, "It is indeed a very cool story. But you might have to be a horse lover to appreciate it" She gets the brush out and tends to Snowthorn a bit

A final pat, and Danica straightens. "Thank you. Do you wish to return to the manor now? Or remain here for a time?"

Willy smirks at Lavender's last, and is opening her mouth to rejoin, when Danica speaks.

"Nah. I got this place's measure. Wouldn't mind a few winks, figure out what you people need to make it work here in the morning."

She looks around. "Assuming it can be done, I can do it."

"Good to know," Dame Lavender D'Lorean says

Willy pick up her roll, waiting.

"I thought you were shown your room already," D'Lorean says "You weren't?"

"Yeah. I was." she glares for emphisis, and stomps out into the night towards the manor.

"Well," D'Lorean watches her go and looks at the Thane, "She's a bundle of sunshine."

The thane watches her go, a small crinkle on her forehead. Finally she says, "If she can do the work, that's all Lord Aiden will ask of her. A rude manner may put the animals on edge. We will have to see."

"Yeah, well, good treatment of animals can be taught if she's willing to learn. More important to her job than people skills even," Lavender says "You know, I think she's nervous."

A moment of thought. "We're not the most attractive posting for skilled work. And she does seem to have the skill. Someone coming all the way here might be desperate, or might be running from something. I'll pull a background check."

"Not a bad idea, but I'm not sure it's like..criminal in mortal sense. Maybe is, maybe isn't. I mean she bristles and stamps, if she were in a herd I'd swear she was trying to establish a pecking order out of fear of being at the bottom of it, and that she's been in the bitch seat before and didn't like it. Just guessing though. Nockers tend to be surly as a rule anyway... but she seems... yeah, a bit on edge . "

Danica considers this, and nods. "Perhaps. I must explore the other angles as well. The safety of our hold and home is paramount. Until we have done so... please observe her if you see her with the horses." A glance to Dolph, including the hostler in this as well, who tips his hat and returns to spreading fresh hay.

(Inside) Willy hears... a soft tap-tap-tap on the inside door.

(INSIDE) She jerks away from the door and opens it. "Yeah??:

A pooka stands outside there, blinking large brown eyes. Two velvety brown ears trail down her head, blending into her hair. A pink-tinge nose twitches just a bit. Reaching out, she offers a small vase with a single stem of blooms. "Sweet William?" She inquires.

"Errr...." she gives the pooka the side eye but takes the flowers. Granted, it is as if she expects them to blow up, but....

A curtsy, sweeping her hand to one side. There is a tingle of glamour on the flowers, but they seem inert - nothing explosive (yet)?

"A chime, a ring, poignant and blue, yet a cheerful flower may cheer you, too?" She asks in a soft tone, questioning.

"Yeah, flowers from girls I don't know don't reallly do it for me but thanks for the thought."

She tries again. "A name is a sound, like a chime of a bell. My Bell is Blue, and you seem to be, too?

"Er. My name's Willy."

A smile blossoms on her sweet and somber face. "Every time a nocker tells her name, an angel gets it's wings." She replies, happily. "Your room, it is filled with all the sweet grasses for a comfortable den, and cool water to drink?" Peeking in to check the room.

"Yeah, yeah, it's .... kinda over the top. A little far away from the stables. But I can make it work."

"Oh, the stables! So much fresh sweet hay, and all the oats that you can eat! Surely better than a squishy soft bed and indoor plumbing." She smiles at Willy. "It's so cold out though... spend too much time out there, and you'll get a little hoarse."

A snort. "That the best you can come up with?"

"Standing on the doorstep in the snow, I'm likely to waste away..." She presses a hand against her forehead in a dramatical swoon, leaning against the frame.

A sigh. "You want to come in?"

"I would be delighted!" slipping past her into the room. "How simply marvelous. Delightful! You should bring your patients in here and treat them to cakes and tea."
