Briar glances around, and leans in. "I heard... and I wasn't supposed to hear it, but people forget about short folk sometimes. That when bossy-goat first showed up, Calanthe was mad that he didn't notice her - not like she wanted a piece of that anyways, but HE didn't want any of her shit and liked Bluebell from the start and that pricked her right in the sidhe-ass." A smirk. "Might just be gossip though. Marigold chatters on the phone with her friends sometimes when she does dishes."

"She also doesn't like me either." A bit of pride in that. "She said I'm rude and unproductive."

"Oh wow." Her eyes widen. She's still a young teenager, so this stuff IS of curious interest to her, "I know girls like that. EVERYTHING is about them" shake of her head

"Yeah, then turn those bitchy girls into an elf princess and BAM, there you go."

"I get a pass I think because I'm still a kid. Though I'd like to see HER break down an elk carcass for once." A snort. "Bluebell is older though and doesn't do any 'hold work. She's here because everyone likes her. Everyone who matters."

"Bluebell's great, and she did win that prize, and is good with dreamers" In truth, the troll doesn't always know what to make of Blue bell. Even among pooka the girl is enigmatic, but.. she's sweet, and kind, and that's worth a lot. And she has learned from the rabbit lady "I guess I don't always get her, but she's...she tries to make the world better. "

"She's not terrible." Briar allows. "And she's not a mean pranker like you hear some of them are."

"yeah." She nods "I ask other trolls about Pooka and half of the older ones say 'never let one behind you'"

"How's your studies going ?" A sudden change of subject

A groan. "I HATE that stupid computer! I got a day off when the internet stopped working until Julius had to butt in and point out that something bit through the cord."

"He's such a buttinksi" sympathy

"He warned me not to try it with the power cable." A snicker. "I wish we could get back to normal school there. All of the kids are gonna forget that I'm king of the playground, and I'll have to start over from scratch."

"You need help ? I mean, I've taken some of your classes . I won't do your homework but I can help"

"No...." She drawls, but looks uncertain. Want? No. Need? ... maybe.
"I wouldn't care, but stupid Marigold just gives me this look when I get grades back and says "Oh, Briar." and makes me feel bad." Grumbling.

A sympathetic wince. NOTHING is worse than Marigold looking disappointed. It cuts right through you

"Which class is she oh briaring about most?"

"Oh, it's all dumb. Science is lame now that we can't even see anything cool happen... they were gonna let us cut up frogs, but now it's just pictures. Math is boring... and I don't understand why I have to learn capitals of places I ain't never going to." A huff.

"Oh... huh yeah, it does suck you can't do hands on stuff." She ponders then says "I can help you with the places. I think. We talking capitals of nations, or of states?"

"Nations ain't that bad, you can guess sometimes in a lineup based on the name that matches the way the language sounds. But the states SUCK. Like half of them are Springfield, and then the ones you think you know, it's some other random city."

"I think I can help you, sometimes rhymes or other word tricks help me. For you?" A pause "Let's see... " she chants "If I meet you in Alabama's Montgomery, you damn sure better run from me! If I see you in Alaska, Juneau I'm gonna axe you! Phoenix is capitol of Arizona, I'll beat you up and own ya! If I club you with this Little Rock I saw, you know you died in Arkansas."

She stares at Gwen, in awe. "Did you just make that up?!"

"not entirely, I've used rhymes before to learn places, it's just for you, I thought it would be easier to remember if you got to imagine yourself beating the snot out of your teacher or something" A shrug "Kind of like how you helped me throw a spear"

"You're alright, you know that?"

"Been known to happen" a bit of a twinkle in her eyes

A grin. "All this thinking is making me HUNGRY though."

"Come on, we'll work on new verses between chowing down" She motions the redcap to folow her to the kitchen

Briar doesn't have to be told twice!

And off they go to stare at Marigold until she feeds them, or gives them work that leads to a meal

It only takes a MINOR amount of puppydog eyes and a promise to help chop veggies later, and they are well situated with snacks!

Life is good.
