Instead, he finds the Baron. Lord Aiden is dressed in an impeccable suit jacket, and looks every bit the royal lord. Art finds himself feeling a bit shabby in comparison, but if he's underdressed, the Baron doesn't make mention of it.
"Fledge Arthur. I am glad you have joined us today. Tell me, did you see any signs of visitors on your way in? Trollesses, I imagine, either tall and garbed in green and gold, or younger, wearing the tabard of Rivervale?"
Art shakes his head. "I can't say that I did, but I came in the back. Maybe one of the Thanes caught sight of them?"
"No matter." The Baron waves it off as though it is of least concern, though his eyes still stray to the door. "I trust you had a good Yule?"
"I did - Christmas, that is, with the family. It wasn't bad. Um, I have... it's not much, but I got this for you..."
The Baron raises his eyebrows, and accepts the thin package with a nod. "Shall I open it now?"
"Please do..." Art tries not to fidget as the Baron opens... a 2022 calendar. But it is filled with lovely drawings...

The Baron interrupts him. "It is practical, and lovely. I will hang it in my study, gladly."
Art smiles, relieved.
