"My dear Katrina! How are you, wee fusswidget? Take apart anything in that fancy kitchen of your Dad's yet?"

"Not yet. But I made a cool thing for Gwen's mom..."

"Eh? Of course you did! You're always taking apart, putting together, making your little critters and whatsits. Now tell me, did they feed you right over there? Nothing microwaved or packaged or none of that bull-" "MOM!" "Bull HOOEY, I was saying!" Nan argues back against Mom's protests.

"Yeah, lots of good food. No cider, though."

"Well, that's a damn shame - "Mom...." "Oh, I'll put a dang quarter in the jar. Thanksgiving without cider, feh! Here, I told them, but they heated up apple juice with a cinnamon stick and called it a day! Well, it's still Thanksgiving, cider or no, right, dear?"

"Sure is!"

"That's my girl! Now, you play nice with Frankie, he's a good boy. Teach him to play poker, and someday you'll thank me!"

She laughs. "Alright, I believe you! Happy Thanksgiving, Nana."

"Happy Thanksgiving, sweetie. Now tell your ma you're having a good time, she's barely even played a single round but for wondering if you're enjoying yourself."

"Ok, Nan, you put her on."

"Trina, thanks for humouring the old bat." "HEY!" "Well, don't think I didn't see you peeking at my cards!"

A laugh. "Okay, sounds like you gotta get back to it."

"All is well over there? You don't need me to come pick you up?"

"We're fine, Mom."

"Okay, good. Love you, sweetie."

"Love you too. Bye!"

"Did you tell her about my beyblades??" Frankie has his priorities!

"No, we'll have to show her when she comes to pick me up. Okay?"

"Okay!"

Dessert is cleared, and dad settled down with Football. Janice offers, "Can I make you two some hot cocoa? We can put on cartoons or a movie in the rec room."

"I guess cocoa would be okay.... Frankie? Wanna watch Shang Chi?"

"CAN I?!" Janice looks a little uncertain, but... relents. "If Trina thinks it's getting too scary, you listen if she says to turn it off, okay?"

"I'll take care of him." She promises.

"That's fine, then." Janice goes to fetch the promised cocoa. One of Trina's nevers trails after Janice into the kitchen, seemingly curious about the lady!

She doesn't THINK they can affect mortals...

Probably? Maybe? Maybe not? Frankie is mashing the buttons on the remote. "C'mon, let's watch!"

"Ok, ok, I'll bring it up..." She snags the remote.

Soon Janice is back, and with POPCORN as well as cocoa. Not sure if anyone has room, but...

The never rides on her shoulder, and then slides down Janice's arm, and takes wing just before falling into the popcorn. Janice smiles absently as if at a pleasant thought.

"Hey, popcorn! That's great. Thanks, Janice."

Teenagers ALWAYS have room.

She smiles, and heads off to clean up the kitchen. The little never sits on top of Trina's head and trills, waving goodbye to Janice!

"Heh." Amused.

The Never watches Step Mom leave, and then tugs at Trina's ear. Chime?

She reaches for the pixie, trying to be casual about it.

Fwip, over to the other shoulder, and tugs at the OTHER ear. Now it's a game!

Frankie mashes popcorn into his mouth and watches as ... "DID YOU SEE?! He has a KNIFE FOR AN ARM! And he cut RIGHT THROUGH THE BUS!"

"Wow!"

She offers the Never a kernel of popcorn.

Chime! A piece of popcorn the size of their head is a GOOD bribe.

"Thought so."

All in all, not a bad Thanksgiving, was it?
