Brekke responds to the first question grimly: "No."

"I think the Daireann wants to gloat, to show that he is not afraid of our attempts to interfere."

But the announcement about the distraction makes her angry. She barely stops herself from bringing a fist down on the railing of the ship.

"I should be there. This may be a decoy as well. But I cannot risk that it is not!"

"You've got a duty to inform the Count if you think this is a challenge to him. "

A pause "pardon me, Chieftain, but that's why we came here and your instincts are right" A blush .

She nods. "I read it as a threat. It may be false, but I have a duty."

Siv gives the railing her mother hit a side glance. No dent or crack. Good. And then plank lowered, lets her mother depart first

She disembarks and heads in the direction of the manor as quickly as possible, her step heavy but her stride long. Siv might have to run to catch up.

She certainly has to pick up the pace.

Folks seem to sense the Chieftain is here with a purpose. Servants part before her like a wave, thanes bow as she goes by

She goes to one Thane. "I must speak to..." and she names the Count's Steward. "Immediately."

((or Chancellor, or whomever Brekke knows is highest in authority after the Count. She does not want to disturb him directly.))

"Mrs Josten is available, shall I escort you?"

"Mm." A nod, and a tilt of the head to indicate that Siv is with her.

Siv inclines her head. For once, Siv is quiet, dignified. Whether she learned that at Coradel's court or the lessons at RV finally sunk in probably doesn't matter. There's nothing light or too carefree in the girl now

Then a low mutter to Siv as they follow the Thane: "You said an attempt on the doctor. Find out how."

A simple nod and the girl texts and walks at the same time. An essential skill for wilders

Brekke follows the thane so quickly that she nearly risks running into him/her.

The poor thane gets the hint and picks up his pace.

They see miss Joosten talking to a frustrated candy maker "Oh goodness, stop frumping. Just fuddle the M&Ms so they APPEAR green and gold only. They'll be fine with that"

The Candy Maker hadn't thought of this, and nods

Brekke waits, standing stiffly, for the woman to be available. The tension radiates off of her, but she is as still as she can manage.

She turns "Baroness ? Oh my.. " She senses the tension

"Pardon me, Chieftain. Come inside my office please can I get you and your daughter anything?"

(Pause)

"Mrs. Joosten." A brief nod of respect. "You know my daughter, Lady Captain Siv."

"I do, congratulations on your knighthood young lady." She says

"Thank you,m Mrs Joosten" A bow

"There is a possible threat to the Count," Brekke says abruptly. "From a member of House Deaireann."

"Go on..." the woman has grabbed a pen and paper

"A Daireann lord seeks vengeance on a member of my barony. Rather than retaliating on her directly, so far he has sent an agent to poison a pet...with hemlock."

"With... Hemlock?" An eyeebrow rises over the pad "Either that's the mother of all coincidences or someone is feeling rather brassy"

Brekke glances at Siv, then back to the boggan. "It is possible it is a decoy, designed to draw me here so I would not be present in my own barony. I must leave this information with you to act upon, but depart quickly."

"Please do. I'll get word to the Count's hunting party"

Brekke's eyes goes wide. "He is not within the manor."

"Afraid not...." She says

Siv looks at her mother "I'll go there myself. You can return via a flash or something to Rivervale. The Count is probably safe, but I know you'll want a rivervaler to guard him. I volunteer" A beat "IF that's okay with you both?"

A hand on Siv's shoulder and a look to Mrs. Joosten, requesting permission for this plan.

"Fine by me. " She nods "The count knows you don't send your people willy nilly for no reason. Might make him take it more seriously."

At THAT the boggan actually looks a bit grateful

A nod, and she looks to Siv. "You will protect him." Confidence.

"With my life if need be." Siv says

"I know."

"I will need transport," she adds to Mrs. Joosten.

"I'll give you directions." Mrs joosten says to Siv, then rings a bell "Get Sir Clydwell. I need his abilities to send the Chieftain to Rivervale... and now"

the servant who answered nods and breaks into a run

"Thank you."

"Thank you, Chieftain. " She counters "Hopefully he's in no danger but best not to take that chance"

Clydwell, a sidhe grump she has seen before, comess in, bows, and then takes the dross he is handed by the boggan
